What started as Shinjini Amitabh Chawla’s compilation of wedding inspiration during the run up to her wedding turned into an online frenzy; popularly know as The Delhi Bride. Ever since, this bride-turned-blogger (well, technically, newlywed now) has become a go-to insider for all things bridal-related. We decided to tap into her know-how and put together a beauty bible for you brides-to-be. Yes yes, we know we’re the best!

The Delhi Bride’s three-point beauty ritual

  • You must cleanse, tone and moisturize your face twice a day (don’t forget the neck!). You’ll be thankful for the resultant glowing skin. Also, it’s easier to apply make up on well-hydrated skin.
  • Exfoliate and use a face mask at home once a week — removing dead skin and cleaning out the pores really nurtures the skin and allows the skin to glow.
  • Now this one you may have heard several times, but there’s a good reason for that — do not forget to apply sunscreen every single day! If you’re outdoors for long then re-apply every 3-4 hours.

  • A good primer is non-negotiable. It will make the application of your foundation smoother i.e. not flaky or streaky. In addition to that, it helps the foundation last throughout the day! Choose a primer with SPF (my favorite is M.A.C Cosmetics’ Prep + Prime with SPF) so that you don’t need to pile on sunscreen underneath.

  • A  foundation that actually matches your skin tone is a must-have. If you have good skin, you can just apply the foundation in a few areas — yes, you don’t need to cover your whole face with it. Bobbi Brown foundations are a personal favorite. They genuinely have maximum variety when it comes to shades.

  • A pretty blush in peach or pink as it suits most Indian skin tones. You can’t skip the blush when headed to a party as it adds dimension to your face. My favorite is M.A.C’s Melba.
  • Neutral lipstick shades, such as M.A.C’s Velvet Teddy, are essential for a day soiree or when you’ve gone heavier on the eyes and don’t wish to draw too much attention to your pout.

  • golden eye shadow (with subtle shimmer) as it will go well with most Indian outfits. The fact that it’s so easy to apply gives it brownie points. Just sweep it onto your eyelid and you’re done! No need to shade it, blend it or add colors, etc. You can kiss goodbye to that complicated drill. M.A.C is my favorite for this!
